Finding Calm, Connection, and Community: A Recap of Our Fertility‑Friendly Yoga Event

Posted on March 1, 2026 by Inception Fertility

On Sunday, March 1, Indiana Fertility Institute (IFI) partnered with Fire & Flow Yoga to host a gentle, fertility‑friendly afternoon designed to support both body and mind. Held in the warm, welcoming space of Fire & Flow Yoga in Carmel, this free community event brought together individuals at many different points in their fertility journeys—each seeking a moment to breathe, learn, and feel supported.

From the moment attendees arrived, the focus was clear: move softly, learn confidently, and feel supported.

Education First: Fertility Insight with Dr. Christine Hur

The afternoon began with light fertility education and an open Q&A led by Dr. Christine Hur. In a relaxed, conversational setting, Dr. Hur shared parts of her personal story, reflecting on her own experiences and how mind–body practices like yoga have supported her well‑being. Her openness helped set a compassionate tone for the afternoon and reinforced that fertility journeys—both personal and professional—are deeply human.

Attendees were encouraged to ask questions openly and to share their own stories if they felt comfortable, whether they were just beginning to explore fertility care, actively in treatment, or seeking reassurance and community. The discussion underscored that education can be empowering without being overwhelming, especially when delivered in a supportive environment.

A Gentle Practice: Restorative Yoga for All Levels

Following the discussion, participants moved into a restorative, beginner‑friendly yoga practice led by Fire & Flow Yoga instructor Cindi Odle. With props provided and thoughtful modifications offered throughout, the class was intentionally accessible to all bodies and experience levels.

Cindi also shared her own personal journey and how yoga has supported her through different seasons of life, adding an extra layer of meaning to the practice. The session focused on gentle movement, breathwork, and relaxation—creating space to release tension and reconnect with the body.

Rather than pushing physical limits, the practice invited participants to slow down, listen inward, and simply be present—something that can feel especially important, and often elusive, during a fertility journey.

The Mind–Body Connection on a Fertility Journey

A central theme of the event was the mind–body connection, particularly how stress, emotional well‑being, and physical health intersect during fertility care. While yoga and mindfulness practices are not fertility treatments themselves, activities like gentle movement, breath awareness, and intentional rest can help reduce stress and support overall well‑being.

Fertility journeys often carry a heavy emotional load, and creating moments of calm can be an important form of self‑care. Just as meaningful was the sense of community in the room—being surrounded by others who understand the uncertainty, hope, and complexity that can accompany this path.

For many attendees, simply knowing they weren’t alone made the experience deeply impactful.

Looking Ahead: More Community Events to Come

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us, as well as to Fire & Flow Yoga, Cindi, and Dr. Hur for creating such a thoughtful, inclusive experience. Events like this remind us that fertility care extends beyond appointments and protocols—it also includes education, emotional support, and opportunities to connect.

Due to the positive response, Indiana Fertility Institute looks forward to hosting more events like this in the future, continuing to create spaces where patients and community members can feel informed, supported, and empowered at every stage of their journey.
